From social media trends to celebrity influence, teeth whitening has surged in popularity in recent years. Many young people have embraced teeth whitening as a sign of beauty and confidence. Teeth whitening also comes in two forms, which are the professional sessions and over the counter remedies.

Teeth whitening is also know as bleaching and there are various reasons why people get their teeth whitened. 

'' I did not like the colour of my teeth so i just decided to get them whitened" Vanessa Darko shared. "My friends used to mock me but after i got my teeth whitened the mocking stopped and i have gotten more confident" says Phil Botway. They both went through the professional process.

Unlike Vanessa and Phil, Prince prefers the whitening powder to the professional procedure. "I think it is cheaper and more effective than the professional procedure" Prince shares

Just like every other thing, teeth whitening also has its negative side or side effect. Experts say excessive whitening or bleaching damages the enamel which is the hardest substance of the body thereby making it very sensitive and thats when the teeth becomes more prone to various cavities.

Dr. Randal a dentist at the University Of Ghana Medical Center gives advice on this craze.
