Soft life, Peace over Pressure(source: Pinterest)
Wake up at 4 a.m.
Gym. Coffee. Emails. Grind until your soul leaks.
Sleep? Only when you are dead.
No thanks.
We are tired - and not just physically. Soul-tired.
That is why a growing number of young people especially women are embracing the soft life: ease, rest, pleasure, and peace over grind, exhaustion, and proving a point.
And while critics shout, “Lazy!” we smile, sip coffee, and glow harder.
Because this is not laziness. It is strategy.
Let us be real.
Most of us watched our parents work themselves into stress disorders and silence with very little to show for it but bills and back pain.
Now Gen Z is saying: nah, We are not doing that.
According to Deloitte’s 2023 Global Gen Z and Millennial Survey, over 46% of young workers say their jobs negatively affect their mental health. So more people are stepping back, choosing slower careers, flexible hours, passion projects, and mental rest.
They are not lazy. They are just no longer willing to self-destruct for a paycheck.

For decades, women were told to “work twice as hard”, while still cooking, smiling, birthing, and sacrificing.
But now, women are reclaiming their energy.
They are saying, “I want soft mornings, soft skin, soft work, soft love.”
That is not weakness. That is strategic survival.
We are not running from responsibility. We are choosing peace over proving a point.
Some are building empires. Some are choosing silence. Some are traveling. Some are starting businesses that work for them, not the other way around.
Redefining productivity, one peaceful hour at a time(Pinterest)
TikToker Elicia Goguen breaks it down simply: The soft life isn’t about luxury bags or fancy vacations - it’s about choosing ease, peace, and alignment over unnecessary struggle. Her take reminds us that the soft life is more about mindset than money.
The soft life is about how a person sees it not how society defines it. Celebrity makeup artist and lifestyle creator Delina Medhin says it best:
